Lack of oxygen or hypoxia can affect the organs of the body. Nevertheless, the body naturally able to adapt to the conditions and heal itself. The discovery was revealed in a study dr.Ari Fahrial Sham, Sp.PD.Dr.Ari managed to find the existence of such an important molecular factor Hypoxia Inducible Factor-1 a (HIF-a). This research led Ari earned his doctorate in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Indonesia.According to Ari, hypoxia can occur because of damage to the cardiovascular system, located at altitude, smoking, or are suffering from infectious diseases. This condition in the long run will damage organs, including the stomach, which is becoming a focus of attention as an expert gastro Ari.For his research, Ari made in laboratory mice suffering from chronic hypoxia. "In the course of time the rat gastric organs become damaged but repairs occur naturally or epithelialization," he said.In addition to damage the stomach, according to him, the hypoxic rats also lost weight. "HIF-a had an effect on leptin gene that reduces hunger or appetite," he said.He added that, in humans, the same reaction can also occur. Therefore, he suggested that physicians who treat patients with chronic disease patients pay attention to oxygen levels and improve the patient's diet."Nutritious diet will help increase the body's ability to heal itself due to hypoxia," he said. The results of his research, said Ari, can also be used to test the effectiveness of drugs or herbs. Was educated doctors and specialists at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, Ari has also been formally recognized as a member of a specialist in internal medicine from the United States with a degree FACP.The dissertation is defended in front of the Academic Senate University of Indonesia, Friday (07/15/2011), delivering a faculty member in the Department of Medicine Faculty of medicine reached graduated cum laude. Act as a promoter is Professor Aziz Rani with Professor Mohammad kopromotor Sadikin and DR.Septelia Inawati Wanadi.
